2020 AES Business Meeting

We invite you to attend the 2020 AES Business Meeting, which will be held via zoom on December 14, 2020 from 2:00-3:00 PM (EST).



We will include a preview of the much anticipated “@Ferguson: Still Here in the Afterlives of Black Death, Defiance, and Joy: The Film", produced by Shanti Parikh and JB Kwon. We invite you to view the trailer on YouTube

Councilor Chris Krupa will present awards to the winners of the AES Senior Book Prize by video. This year, the Senior Book Prize award committee will present the prize to Deborah Thomas for Political Life in the Wake of the Plantation: Sovereignty, Witnessing, Repair, and to J. Lorand Matory for The Fetish Revisited: Marx, Freud, and the Gods Black People Make. To view the full award announcements, please visit our website

We will also congratulate winners of the AES Graduate Student Research Prize, which we awarded in two separate rounds: Round 1 and Round 2.

Finally, we will discuss alternate events in lieu of the canceled AES Spring Meeting, and more.

After you have registered, to access the zoom link and password for the event please follow the steps: open the email with your ticket, click tab "view the event," next click "view event details," finally click "access the event" and you will get the zoom and password, which will give you access to the meeting.
